- Foehn winds - are warm, dry Katabatic winds that occur on the lee side of a mountain range that are situated in the path of a depression.
- The Barber - are enhanced Katabatic winds that blow over the town of Greymouth in New Zealand when there is a southeast flow over the South Island of New Zealand.

- Bora winds - are cold and usually dry Katabatic winds resulting from the downslope gravity flow or cold, dense air. These winds are located along the Adriatic on the Dinaric Alps.
